In an emotional event in the Bahía Room of the Intercontinental Miramar Hotel, the first “Arturo Melo Sarasqueta” medal of merit was presented to Eng. Rolando Sánchez for his career in the agricultural sector.
Law 229 of June 23, 2021 creates the Decoration of Merit for the National Producer Engineer Arturo Donaldo Melo Sarasqueta and establishes that this 18-carat medal be awarded every year on December 15, Arturo Melo's birthday.
Engineer Sánchez Diez is distinguished for his contributions to the advancement of the agricultural sector. He has been a representative and Executive Director of the Panamanian Association for the Sustainability of Agriculture and Nature Resources (APASAN), he was coordinator of Rural Development Projects, a consultant in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, he dedicated 20 years to the cultivation of Bamboo, He developed a Project in Strategic Planning at the level of rural poverty and technicians, training in agro-environmental system projects, and carried out studies on the conservation of natural resources, soils, waters and in the management of hydrographic basins in different areas of the country as a consultant, among others.
